PROMOTIONS

It is a great accomplishment for our members to be promoted. To recognize our member?s hard work in accomplishing these actions, the following will be the standard procedure for awarding a promotion. After verifying that a member has completed all tasks required for promotion, the squadron commander or their designee will sign all required paperwork is completed and forward it, if needed, for completion.

At the next unit formation the member will provide the commander their next grade to be pinned on, and be called in front of the squadron, and that member will report to the squadron commander, salute, and state ?(members rank and last name), Reporting as ordered.?They will wait for the commander to return the salute, stand at attention, and then drop their salute. The commander will then read the orders for their promotion.

By command of ___________ (state rank, position and unit affiliated as required), ____________ (insert name of member) is to be promoted to the grade of ______ (Insert Grade here).? ___________ (name of member) has completed all requirements for said grade and will have bestowed all rights and privileges to them. They have shown great credit to themselves, the Falcon Composite Squadron, Indiana Wing, Civil Air Patrol.?

The commander will then pin on their new grade and remove their old one, shake their hand, and render a salute to the member, who will in turn return the salute, and drop theirs after the commander drops theirs. After that member has been pinned on, they will immediately execute an about face, and take their place back into the flight.

At this point, additional personnel could be promoted in the same way or then continue with normal squadron business at the formation. If the cadet is to become a Cadet NCO, the Cadet NCO ceremony will be used to induct them into the NCO corps.

For milestone promotions, additional personnel may be used for special occasion ceremonies. Parents may be invited to pin on shoulder boards for Mitchell, Earhart, Eaker, or Spaatz recipients, as well as members of the community that are suggested to present such awards. Parents and family members are more then welcome to attend these ceremonies, and can ask to have posed pictures after the formation or meeting if so desired.

If a member has a rank that they would like to trade for the next one, they will be able to do so free of charge, as long as we have the rank that they need in stock, if not the member will have to provide it themselves.
